SETAC GLB is engaged in improving the education of ecotoxicologists: In 2005, SETAC GLB and the Society of German Chemists “Gesellschaft Deutscher Chemiker” (GDCh) prepared a post-gradual training course offering a certificate ('Certified Ecotoxicologist’ after successful participation. In the following years several one-week-courses on topics like regulatory ecotoxicology, statistics in ecotoxicology, aquatic and terrestrial ecotoxicology, toxicology, molecular mechanisms, and landscape ecology were offered. There was a great turnout, with approximately 20 participants per course. In total more than 150 persons participate in the course. SETAC members are offered reduced fees.

Every course closed down with an aeymination. Every participant has to absolve at least eight of the ten offered courses. To get permission to the final exam each participant has to perform scientific thesis.
